International Street Beats
It Furahi-day every Friday 7.00-9.00pm GMT on OX4 Radio's East African Street Beats, a unique show dedicated to the best of Genge, Kapuka, Boomba, Bongo Flava, Hip Hop, Crunk, Kwaito, Soukous and all the other great sounds from the four corners of Africa, with celebrity
interviews, comedy and competitions alongside the freshest flavours.
Hosted by Bex (Shiro) and Bennon (G-Clef), it's a little bit of Nairobi's sunshine coming into your home.
The show comprises of these sessions:
1. Shake a leggy if not break a necky: - With the best of Congolese Soukous and Zouk be sure to master you perfect your Lingala moves and get down to Koffi, Awilo, Papa Wemba and Kanda Bongo Man.
2. Half hour DJ Mix: - With talents of DJ Rach, DJ ATC, Defiant the DJ and many others to be joining the list, your DJ for the night will churn and spit out the hottest Genge or Kapuka mix, some of which are ready to download or buy. Capitalists!
3. Mgeni wa Leo/Niaje? (Today's Guest/Was' up?): - We are blessed to have many of the artists as friends and in that spirit of friendship, we always want to know what's happening and where, with who and whom and why. We bring you Interviews with Musicians, DJs from across all the genres; club and gig reviews from the UK (Europe and US sometimes)
This also comprises of the latest news (411) and Mosheneneko (talking about various thing) concerning Africa and those directly affecting the African Diaspora as a whole, as well as jokes (yes, sometimes in Swa or Sheng) .
